Anybody have advice for an affordable but GOOD vacuum?? Here's why: I end up doing all the work myself. I can't tell you how many pieces of fuzz or string I've picked up and 'tried again' to vacuum them. This is a dirt devil, which seems to be a good brand, but this is not doing the job!

Hey Angela,
Let you friend, JenniferG, know I'm glad she got on board the "love train." She said you "lassoed" her in!

No help from me. We've had 4 differnt vacuums and I haven't loved ANY of them. It may be a "get what you pay for" thing where you have to get a dyson or an orek but even the reports on those are varied!
Yeah, it looks like you need a new vacuum. Did you empty the bag or filter? SOmetimes that can make a vacuum not suck up stuff.
I got an Oreck for my wedding. It's going on 8 years and still works like a champ:) I also have a Kenmore vaccuum my mom got us for upstairs and I LOVE it. It's my favorite vacuum and has all the attachments for tiny spaces and even an attachment for stairs. I think she got that one at Sears. I'd recommend that one over the Oreck any day.
Sorry for the long endorsement!
Although my grandpa sold Kirbys for 40 years, I cannot afford one. They are the best, but about $1,000. We bought a DYSON. They are great!
